Official Scouting Report

  • 6Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2018 - College PREP - Sauget, IL Nate is an athletic and solid 2019 2-way prospect. At 3B, Nate is on time with his prep step, he presents a low early glove, and squares himself up to the ball. He has a clean exchange and has carry on his throws across the diamond. At the plate, Nate starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and keeps a quiet head. He stays balanced through contact and shows pull side pop. On the bump, Nate gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. Nate will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Nate is a long, lean 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, feet are active but needs to attack and play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. With 2 years to further develop, Nate has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
