08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2
Nate is a coachable, young player, who worked out at 2B and on the mound in Pirate City. Defensively, Nate has efficient footwork, playable hands, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He covers ground well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and average strength to his target. On the mound, Nate has level shoulders, a quick arm action, and he works in good tempo. Offensively, Nate has a tall set up, a short stride, and a smooth load. He has a level swing path, he swings in good rhythm, and he makes consistent contact.
07/01/2013 - College PREP - Charleston, WV
Nate is a switch hitting dual position player who will graduate in 2015. At 2B he works around the ball, demonstrating good footwork. He is aggressive in his approach. Although his arm is accurate we would like to see him play more long toss to gain some arm strength. He would benefit from having aggressive hands to the ball and attacking it out front of his body more. Defensively he is a solid player who shows good quickness. On the mound, Bakaitis shows good control of 3 pitches, flashing a fastball in the upper 70's that has slight run to it. He throws 2 off speed pitches both with solid sink action to them. Nate stays inline and has good balance throughout his throwing motion but has a tendency to fall off during his finish. We would like to see him stay balanced throughout his motion. At the plate, Bakaitis shows a level swing path and makes consistent contact from both sides. He is balanced and compact in his swing. He would benefit from focusing some work on his lower half as he cuts himself off by collapsing his back knee instead of rotating through contact. Nate showed well at multiple positions today and I am sure we will continue to see improvements from this solid young player.
