02/23/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Sioux Falls, SD Nate is a lean C/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Nate shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, leading to accurate throws with carry through the 2B bag. At 1B, Nate shows active footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He shows a smooth rhythm and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall, Nate is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nate is an athletic and lanky 2020 catching prospect with good energy. Behind the dish, Nate starts in a relaxed primary and has a staggered secondary stance. When receiving, he presents a low target and tracks the ball into his glove. When throwing, he creates momentum in his lower half, gains ground, and has a quick release. When blocking, he leads with his glove, creates a good angle over the ball, and has lateral range. At the plate, Nate starts in a wide but comfortable stance. He has a simple load, stays contact to the ball, and stays balanced through contact. In game he has a middle approach and has feel for the barrel. Nate was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

02/25/2018 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Nate is a lean C/1B prospect who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, Nate shows efficient footwork and gains ground on the ball when blocking balls in the dirt. He sits in a square stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws to 2B which allows them to be consistently on-line to the bag. Nate can improve as a C by covering up his throwing hand. At 1B, Nate shows fluid footwork and is very agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He has a quick, clean exchange with a quick release on his throws which allows them to be accurate and carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to line drives to all fields. Nate can improve as a hitter by gaining more hand separation in his load. Overall, Nate is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
