04/07/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Billings, MT Nate continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.07 runner. At the plate is where he continues to show best through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, he continues to shine as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line zip across the diamond.

10/17/2018 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Nate is a scrappy and talented 2020 SS prospect that worked hard at the Junior Fall Classic. At SS, Nate is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He fields the ball on both side of the glove, has clean exchange, and throws from multiple arm angles. He needs to continue to work through his backhand and stay low on double play feeds. At the plate, Nate starts in a crouched stance, attacks the inside part of the ball, and looks to drive the ball to the opposite side of the field. He creates backside rotation with his lower half and hits off a firm front side. He needs to continue to get his front foot down on time and have better pitch recognition in game. Continuing to hunt the fastball and adjust breaking ball will give him a better approach at the plate. Nate is a solid team player and will be a difference maker at the next level.

04/08/2018 - College PREP - Billings, MT Nate is an athletic SS prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Nate shows active footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He shows a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load well and hits from a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed and good extension which leads to consistent contact to all fields. Overall, Nate is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
