01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nate's offensive performance was culminated with a triple, a single, and a walk at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament. Offensively, he continues to show sound mechanics from both sides, with plus feel for the barrel on the right side. He is quiet with his actions and maintains a middle approach with lower half drive. He is slightly more advanced from the right side, currently, but with the majority of pitching being right handed, will begin to show more comfortability as he gets through his junior season. Defensively, he showed the arm strength necessary to make plays in the deep six hole, and worked his feet efficiently right and left for added range. He was sure with the glove and clean with his exchange to make and finish plays. Overall - Nate's an athletic switching middle infielder that has the glove to stay there as the game speeds up.

06/04/2014 - Under Armour Southeast Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Nate continues to impress on the diamond. Defensively, this athletic INF works quickly/fluidly into position behind the ground ball. He presents his glove in front, gathers well, and gains ground toward his target. Nate is versatile enough to play anywhere on the diamond as he has sure hands in the INF and speed that can cover ground in the OF. At the plate, this switch hitter has an aggressive approach and is always looking to take a hack. He delivers the barrel with authority to and through the zone, creating extension. He hits the ball on the line and hustles down the line. Nate has a quiet demeanor but lets his passion for the game show on the diamond.

04/27/2014 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Nate continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.27 runner. Arm strength has improved as well as he topped out at 86 mph at the arm strength station. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry across the diamond, displaying outstanding arm strength. Defensive grades are tremendous with hands / feet working well together as he shows big play potential in the MIF. At the plate, he continues to shine as a switch hitter, displaying outstanding hitting abilities from both sides. Power numbers are slightly better from the right side.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Nate showed good athleticism and athletic actions both in the INF and at the plate during Pirate City. Defensively, Nate has quick feet, good body control, and he fields out front. He shows some range, his release is quick, and he throws with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Nate has good balance, he swings in good rhythm, and has direct hands to the ball. He has good barrel accuracy and hits hard to the pull side.

09/29/2013 - College PREP - Scranton, PA Nate improved his defensive abilities in the MIF, now showing as superior tool that will play well at the next level. Feet are active as he attacks ground balls and plays through well, displaying soft / sure hands. He shows big play potential and gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he showed as a switch hitter with outstanding hitting abilities with solid average power from both sides. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

04/21/2013 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Nate is a young SS that will graduate in 2016. Feet are active as he works to get around balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front. He works to get rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Fassnacht shows an open / balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he adds more overall body strength. With 3 years to further develop, Nate has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
