Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

02/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Montgomery, AL Nate is a strong, athletic 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2022. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he creates good angles and works to square balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter but projects best as a RHH. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-71 mph. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Nate has potential with time and room to progress his game.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Nate is an athletic and talented 2022 Catching prospect that is eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. Behind the dish, Nate has a solid pre pitch set up and works behind the ball when receiving. He leads with his glove to block and controls the ball with his chest. Continuing to exchange the ball in front of his body and creating momentum in his lower half when throwing will increase his direction toward the bases. At the plate, Nate starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and separates on time. He keeps a quiet head, stays balanced through contact, and makes contact to all fields. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and create back hip rotation into the ball. Nate will continue to improve his baseball IQ through experience and overall reps at the position. He's a team player and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/27/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Murfreesboro (Nashville), TN Nate is an athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Nate has a good set-up, efficient footwork, and he holds a low target. He centers well when blocking, has a clean exchange, and an accurate arm with carry to 2nd base. In the OF, Nate has active feet, he fields aggressively with 2 hands, and throws to his cut off man with accuracy. At the plate, Nate is a switch hitter who is currently better from the right side. He has good balance, fast bat speed, and he gets his lower body through. From the left side, Nate has good balance, he loads well, and he uses his lower body. Nate can improve skills with work on the following.

Catching
1. Throwing
2. Release
3. Long toss
Outfield
1. Release
2. Work behind quicker
3. Avoid drifting
Offense
1. Barrel accuracy
2. Timing
3. Load

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
