11/03/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Nate is a special young prospect with a big arm and an excellent feel for the game. He put on a very impressive display at the UA Baseball Factory Futures Texas event. It is not often that a high school junior can run a 6.62 in the 60, show 100 mph raw arm strength, flash right-handed power at the plate and still be more highly regarded as a pitcher. While Nate's tools, baseball skills and instincts were outstanding as a position player, he really made the scouts take notice when he stepped on the mound. His lively fastball sat 92-94 mph from a repeatable, low-effort delivery. He gets good plane to his stuff and pitches inside with regularity and confidence. Nate complements his FB with a big curve that has excellent rotation and downer action, as well as a change that sat in the 82-84 mph range and had some late sink. He works quickly and has a calm and confident presence on the mound. Overall, this is a mature, polished player with loud tools and a bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
