07/18/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One West Nate continues to show as a SS but did show on the mound for the first time. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. Feet are light, quick as he moves well laterally displaying plus range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together and he shows big play potential. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and carry across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 4 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 79-82 mph with slight run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength, develops better off speed, and works to throw more strikes.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament This athletic middle-infielder has solid all-around abilities. Defensively, his quick footwork allow him to move well laterally and make the tough plays to his glove-side and backhand. He fields the ground ball smoothly and plays through toward his target. At the plate, Nathan is aggressive and goes up to the plate to his. He remains balanced throughout his swing and finishes with extension through contact. He puts the barrel on the ball and gets out of the box and up the line quickly with his speed. A very talented prospect, Nathan should find success over the next two years in preparation for the next level.

07/29/2013 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Nathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as indicated by his 6.94 60 time. Defensive grades are now well above average as he uses his athletic feet well in attacking ground balls and plays through well, while presenting his soft / sure hands well out front. He works to get rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy across the diamond, now showing an outstanding arm. At the plate, hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he has improved his power grade. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 11 with a 2B and HR. Once on base, he utilizes his quick feet well in taking the extra base and shows good instincts. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard.

01/21/2013 - College PREP - Tucson, AZ Nathan is a 15 year old, tall and athletic SS. Defensively, Nathan has good pre-pitch setup, gets around and works through the ball well. He has loose arm action and a quick clean exchange. His footwork is fluid and his fielding position is low and athletic. Nathan should continue to work on his backhands, and arm accuracy. Offensively, his setup is athletic, stride is short and balance is centered. Nathan's swing is fluid and has good rhythm. He gets his lower half through and has consistent, square contact. He hits the balls to all fields and has the ability to stay inside the ball. Nathan should focus on his contact points as he has a tendency to let the ball get too deep. This should help his body stay in a stronger position and for his power to increase.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
