07/17/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (MS) Nathan continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.91 range and will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Nathan is an athletic and talented 2025 Catching prospect with a ton of energy on the field. Behind the dish, Nathan starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low/early target, but he needs to continue to work behind the ball when receiving. When blocking, he needs to continue anticipate the ball in the dirt, lead with his glove, and create an angle over the ball with his chest. When throwing, Nathan has a clean exchange and has a strong arm. At the plate, Nathan starts in a closed stance, he keeps the barrel on plane to the ball, and has good pitch recognition. He uses his lower half and has a line drive approach. He needs to continue to load hands back into the drive position and continue to get his front foot down on time. Nathan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Nathan is an athletic and talented 2025 Catching prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, Nathan starts in a relaxed stance and presents a low target. He has an athletic secondary stance but needs to continue to exchange the ball in front of his body and create momentum in his lower half when he throws. He makes the routine block but continuing to improve but needs to continue to lead with his glove and try to control the ball with his chest. At the plate, Nathan starts in a crouched stance and he loads his hands back. He had a nice base hit on the weekend but needs to continue to hunt fastballs in the zone. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball, creating backside drive with his lower half, and keeping his head down at contact will improve his swing. Nathan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/18/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Montgomery, AL Nathan is a young, 2-way player who catches and plays 3B. Behind the plate, Nathan has active feet, presentable hands, and he looks the ball in well. He moves well laterally, his exchange is quick, and he throws with momentum from a short arm action to 2nd base. In the INF, Nathan attacks the ball aggressively, his hands are soft, and he has a good glove angle; throwing with accuracy across the diamond. At the plate, Nathan has a tall/square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, a short/direct barrel, and he makes hard contact. Nathan can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
