10/01/2016 - Pitching & Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Nathan continued to show his skills as a pitcher at the Accelerated Training Weekend. Nathan has a great build for a pitcher and displays good mechanics. He gathers over the rubber and separates on time with a clean arm action. He extends through on his release and takes a square stride to the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Nathan shows a three pitch mix with a fastball, curveball, and a changeup. His fastball has good arm side run and he commands it well. Changeup also has good run and cutting movement and he throws with fastball arm speed. Nathan can improve as a pitcher by using his lower half more in his motion and by working on his core strength. Overall, Nathan is a solid pitcher who has the potential to further develop his skills.

08/21/2016 - College PREP - Burlington, VT Nathan is a big, tall LHP prospect with a very projectable body on the mound. He has a very easy, repeatable delivery that allows him to get the most out of his stuff and command it for strikes. He works with quick tempo on the mound, never letting hitters get comfortable in the box. He displays a four pitch mix of a mid 70's fastball, a curveball and slider that both have good depth and a changeup thrown with good arm speed. He has sound mechanics with good balance and keeps his arm and body in sync throughout his delivery. Extending through his release more will lead to an uptick in velocity and movement on his pitches. This LHP prospect has the frame and makeup to become a real prospect for the next level and we look forward to watching him progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
