09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) This talented/projectable LHP continues to compete and challenge hitters every time that he toes the rubber. Mechanics are sound/repeatable as he works both sides of the dish. FB still sits mid 80's with sink and arm-side run, giving hitters a tough time to square it up. Mix in his breaking ball with tight spin and late action which shows to be a solid swing and miss pitch. He isn't afraid to pound the ball on the inner 1/2 and works to get ahead early in the count. At the plate, he did a good job taking an advanced approach and hitting the ball where pitched and spraying line-drives.The ball jumps when centered as he will drive in some runs. Defensively, he showed good carry on his throws from the outfield. Took good reads off the bat. Works behind and through, gaining ground toward his target. Nathan is a skilled 2-way prospect who will garner some attention from colleges thanks to his versatility on the diamond.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Nathan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with on line carry to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved, now displaying well above average hitting abilities with excellent power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 85 mph. Fastball showed a range of 83-85 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Nathan has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

07/30/2020 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Nathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/26/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend (Ages 14-18) Nathan is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Nathan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and accelerates through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Nathan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 68-71mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Nathan improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He shows smooth rhythm and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Nathan can improve as a hitter by working more of a load into his swing. Overall, Nathan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

06/02/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Woodbridge (DC), VA Nathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Nathan is a lean LHP/1B who will graduate in 2022. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact and has strength in his swing with power improving as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 3B and 2 RBI. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and good depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 4 years to further develop, Nathan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
