12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Nathan has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with a 2B. At 3B, he displays outstanding abilities, showing smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and he displays a soft / sure glove as he presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Behind the plate, he continues to shine. Arm strength is outstanding with life, accuracy, and on line carry to his throws. Feet are active as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He is a quality receiver. He uses his body well in the blocking process but needs to get down sooner. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a great teammate.

07/13/2016 - College PREP - Washington, DC Nathan is a big, thick C/3B who has a tremendous future on the diamond. Behind the plate, hands and feet work well together through a quick, clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 1.98 range with accuracy and on line carry to his throws, displaying outstanding arm strength. His receiving and blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, defensive abilities are outstanding. His feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Glove action is soft and sure as he presents well out front. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (98 mph exit velocity) and work through a level, aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop.ing smooth, fluid actions. With 2 years to further develop, Nathan has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball tools.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
