06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Nathan continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. Pop times showed in the 2.39 range with accura-cy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks the ball well and sticks balls in zone, displaying a soft glove action. He utilizes his body well but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Nathan is an athletic built 2B/C prospect who has a high baseball IQ. Behind the plate, Nathan has a solid setup moving well with fluid actions and active footwork. He has a good low presentation and receives the ball athletically with a soft glove. Nathan has a quick exchange leading into a short, loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release and his throws are online with good strength. As a switch-hitter, Nathan has a tall stance with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm in his load and maintains centered balance. Nathan's swing path is on-plane and he gets good separation with his hands producing square contact. He has a line drive approach and the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Nathan has good upside on both sides of the ball as he continues to develop his skills on the baseball field.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Nathan improved his defensive abilities in the MIF at the event. Feet are active / aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target while presenting hands well out front. He displays smooth / fluid actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved from the right side where he projects best. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively through the swing. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game with a lot of energy.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Nathan continues to work hard on his skills. Offensively, this switch hitter currently shows more naturally from the left side. Hands are quick as he whips the barrel to and through the zone, jumping on pitches that he likes. He squares the ball up and drives the middle of the field. Working to get into a loaded position sooner will help to improve abilities with the bat. At 2B - Nathan hustles into a low/square fielding position. He is sure handed, gathers smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. Backhand play is clean as he works through it toward his target. Developing more active pre-pitch footwork will help to increase lateral range. Only a 2018 grad - Jensen continually progresses his tools and will take his game to the next level with added strength.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Nathan is a hard worker who is willing to make adjustments to his game. He has improved in all aspects of he game since we saw him a year ago. Offensively, he displays an open stance with a solid base. Rhythm is smooth as he has loose hands and waits on his pitch. He barrels the ball up consistently and puts pressure on the defense. Working back into a loaded position sooner will help to improve abilities at the plate. At 2B, Nathan hustles all over the field and works into a square fielding position behind the ground ball. He fields the ball with soft hands and has a clean exchange to throw. More aggressiveness and working on the balls of his feet will help to increase lateral movements. Only a 2018 grad - Nathan will continue to work to get his game where he wants it to be.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Nathan continues to show improvements in his overall abilities. Defensively, he displayed aggressive footwork coming to get the ball and playing through. His fielding position is square but will need to work on flexibility to help him reach a lower position. Exchange is clean with good accuracy to his throws, focus on speeding this process up taking less steps. At the plate, Nathan is a switch hitter with potential on both sides. Overall he needs to be more aggressive, which Nathan showed the ability to do after making a few adjustments. His swing path is level with good balance from start to finish. Working on his load getting his hands back will help improve hitting grades. Nathan shows abilities with room form improvement by focusing on the areas above.

06/25/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Nathan is a solid INF with a thick frame. Defensively, Nathan has active footwork, sure hands, and he fields out front of his body. He has a consistent glove, a clean exchange, and he throws with accuracy from a loose arm to his target. At the plate, Nathan is equally as good from both sides of the plate. He has an open stance, okay balance, and he swings in good rhythm. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Pre-pitch actions
2. Field lower and more through
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Keep hands high
2. Avoid lunging
3. Rhythm / timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
