08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Nathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.40 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and receives the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with plays with a lot of energy.

05/12/2019 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Nathan is an athletic catcher who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works on line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.45 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quickly. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone through an athletic setup. He utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to get his body down sooner to improve grade. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Nathan has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
