Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

07/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - St. Petersburg (Tampa), FL Nathan is a tall SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Nathan shows active footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and works through a level swing, driving the ball from gap to gap. On the mound, Nathan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Nathan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph. Breaking ball sits from 66-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Nathan is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/16/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (HS) Nathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.10 runner. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He moves well laterally and covers ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 4 for 7 with 3 2B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/30/2022 - All-In Membership - Fort Myers, FL Nathan is a tall and lean 2B/RHP in the 2023 class. He moves well around the diamond with his 6’2/170 frame. In the field, he has active feet and takes solid angles to the baseball. He fields in a squared position with proper glove presentation. His exchanges are clean and positions himself well to transition into a loose high ¾ release. His throws are crisp (78 velo) and to his target. Has awareness and excellent footwork and feeds around the bag at 2nd. On the mound, he has good rhythm and balance. Stays directional and maintains his eyes to the target. He uses a 3-pitch mix. His FB pounds the zone at 72 with tailing action. His CB sat 62-3 with 11/5 shape and his CH (61-2) maintained FB arm speed with deception. At the plate, he begins in an athletic wide base. He uses a middle to backside approach with an on-plane barrel path. Engaging his lower half will increase power production. With 2 years left to develop, Nathan can fill out his projectable frame and elevate into a fine prospect.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Fort Myers, FL Nathan is a 2B/OF who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 2B, he moves well laterally as he works to get into a square fielding position. He comes up with a clean exchange and fires accurate throws to his target. In the OF, he hustles hard as he tries to get behind the fly ball. He makes all of the routine plays and throws the ball through his cut off man. At the plate, Nathan shows a balanced setup and gets back into a load. He creates power by utilizing his lower 1/2 as he sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Lateral quickness
2. Develop soft hands
3. Play through the ball
Outfield
1. Get behind the ball
2. Clean exchange to throw
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
