02/17/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Nathan continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and aggressive working through a level swing path. He loads well and utilizes his lower half well with rhythm. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, he shows a three pitch mix, keeping hitters guessing. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Breaking ball sits from 61-64 mph with 11/5 break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, sitting 67-69 mph with slight arm side run. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help him improve as a pitcher.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Nathan is a SS/RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Nathan shows active footwork and gets into position on time. He shows the ability to throw from multiple arm angles and keeps his throws accurate through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He is on time getting into a small load and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a compact swing and rotates his core through the zone, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Nathan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and accelerates through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Nathan shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 59-61mph with 11-5 break. Overall, Nathan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

09/22/2019 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Nathan continues to work hard on the diamond. At the plate, this strong righty takes an aggressive hack and looks to drive the ball to the gaps. The ball jumps when squared up. Relaxing/loosening his grip will allow for more bat whip and increased pop. At SS, he works into a square fielding position, tracks the GB into his mitt and gathers well. Working to get through the ball while developing a quicker release will help him to grow at SS. On the mound, he works his 3 pitches around the zone, filling it up and throwing strikes. FB now tops out at 72 mph while showing sink. Breaking ball has 12/ 6 shape with sharp action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed, helping to create deception. Only a 2023 grad, Nathan has upside as he continues to progress.

02/18/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Nathan showed solid overall improvements in his game during his last workout in Detroit. Radar velocity increased to 67 MPH, hitting grades improved to 40's, and INF numbers also spiked. On the mound, Nathan competes in the zone, he has a balanced delivery, and keeps his eyes on target. He separates on time, works in good rhythm, and throws strikes. At SS, Nathan has good pre-pitch actions, he covers ground well, and has a clean exchange with a long arm action to his target. At the plate, Nathan has a square set-up, a short stride, and solid hip action. He is a strong hitter and hits with strength to the pull side.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Nathan is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Nathan makes the routine plays and flashes the ability to finish. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate across the diamond. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Nathan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a relaxed stance and takes a controlled stride. He shows a good rhythm getting into a simple load and hits from a strong front side. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to his pull side. Nathan can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Nathan starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. His fastball sits from 55-60mph. Extending through more on his release can help Nathan improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Nathan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
