09/22/2019 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Nathan continues to work hard on the diamond. At the plate, this strong righty takes an aggressive hack and looks to drive the ball to the gaps. The ball jumps when squared up. Relaxing/loosening his grip will allow for more bat whip and increased pop. At SS, he works into a square fielding position, tracks the GB into his mitt and gathers well. Working to get through the ball while developing a quicker release will help him to grow at SS. On the mound, he works his 3 pitches around the zone, filling it up and throwing strikes. FB now tops out at 72 mph while showing sink. Breaking ball has 12/ 6 shape with sharp action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed, helping to create deception. In the field, Nathan makes the routine plays and flashes the ability to finish. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate across the diamond. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Nathan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a relaxed stance and takes a controlled stride. He shows a good rhythm getting into a simple load and hits from a strong front side. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to his pull side. Nathan can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Nathan starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. His fastball sits from 55-60mph. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
