Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

02/18/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Nathan showed solid overall improvements in his game during his last workout in Detroit. Radar velocity increased to 67 MPH, hitting grades improved to 40's, and INF numbers also spiked. On the mound, Nathan competes in the zone, he has a balanced delivery, and keeps his eyes on target. He separates on time, works in good rhythm, and throws strikes. At SS, Nathan has good pre-pitch actions, he covers ground well, and has a clean exchange with a long arm action to his target. At the plate, Nathan has a square set-up, a short stride, and solid hip action. He is a strong hitter and hits with strength to the pull side.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Nathan is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Nathan makes the routine plays and flashes the ability to finish. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate across the diamond. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Nathan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a relaxed stance and takes a controlled stride. He shows a good rhythm getting into a simple load and hits from a strong front side. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to his pull side. Nathan can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Nathan starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. His fastball sits from 55-60mph. Extending through more on his release can help Nathan improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Nathan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
