01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nathan is a strong RHP/OF prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. On the mound, Nathan starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He is fluid separating his hands and works with a loose arm, staying inline towards the plate. Nathan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 68mph with solid movement. Changeup sits from 71-73mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Nathan shows efficient footwork and is aggressive attacking the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact. Overall, Nathan is a solid prospect who should find success in this, his senior season.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Nathan is a long, lean RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads ball well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-83 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is outstanding as he has a positive attitude, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Nathan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
