  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

10/06/2021 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Nathan is a SS/RHP in the 2024 class. Defensively, he showed the ability to make the routine play consistently and had a short quick arm action to get the ball out quickly. Offensively, Nathan uses a tall stance with a short stride to create quick bat speed. He made consistent hard contact and showed gap to gap power. On the rubber, he exhibited good command with the ability to throw 2 pitches for strikes. He could benefit from throwing his changeup with intent and let the grip do the work. Nathan's stock will continue to rise as long as he continue to improve and fine tune parts of his game.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Nathan is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who showed well during the Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the field, Nathan attacks the ball aggressively and fields in an athletic position. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through an open setup. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half. He generates fast bat speed through the zone and produces great gap to gap power. On the mound, Nathan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Nathan shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 66-68mph with sharp 11-5 break. Overall, Nathan is a talented prospect who will be one to follow as he continues to progress.

09/16/2020 - Pathway AZ Underclass - 16U Nathan continues show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.22 runner. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally. Throws are accurate with zip (88 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Nathan is a very talented, athletic 2-way player who shined during his time at the All-Region Tournament. On the mound, this righty toes the rubber and competes. He has an effective 3-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. He works tall, stays directional and drives downhill off of the rubber. Arm works quickly as his FB cracks the mitt at 85 mph. Curveball shows to be his best off-speed pitch with 11/5 shape and sharp/late break. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception. He pounds the zone with strikes and challenges hitters, collecting 6 strike-outs. At SS, he has active prep and works fluidly right to left around the GB. Hands are presented out in front as he funnels to a clean transfer. As a hitter, this righty shows an athletic setup with active/loose hands. Barrel delivery is quick on-plane as he squares the ball up and hits hard line-drives (exit velocity = 87 mph). Owen is an impressive talent who is a definite watch for the years to come.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Nathan showed well as a 2-way SS/RHP at the Pre-Season Rookie All-American. On the mound, Nathan shows a 2-pitch combo with a FB that he ran up to 82 MPH with late AS run and a CB that showed 10-4 and could be thrown with command. He works out of the stretch only as he gathers over the rubber and separates on time with a quick and clean arm action. He accelerates down the mound keeping good direction and rotates to finish. At SS, Nathan shows hard work getting to the ball fielding in an athletic position with relaxed hands and makes clean exchanges to throw. He gets rid of the ball with a quick arm action delivering the ball with accuracy and life. At the plate, Nathan sets up in a tall stance taking a square stride and fires his lower half through. He gets the barrel on plane making consistent contact with a line drive approach. Nathan shows a solid foundation with a good baseball IQ and will be a prospect to watch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
