07/27/2016 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Nathan continues to impress with each Factory event he attends. Behind the plate, Nathan's best asset is undoubtedly his arm, showing a 1.92 pop time, with a super quick exchange. On balls in the dirt, he's quick to drop, getting around the ball and showing soft hands. Offensively, he shows consistent contact skills, setting up tall and taking a square stride to the pitcher and hitting the inner 1/2 of the baseball with gap to gap power. Incorporating his lower 1/2 slightly more into his swing will result in even more bat speed and power. With room still to grow, Nathan has the makeup of a player who will get collegiate looks.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Nathan is a very coachable, hardworking, catching prospect that impressed coaches in his time at Omaha. Behind the dish, Nathan shows an advanced approach to blocking, with his strong setup and quick hands. Nathan's arm, also a plus, shows potential to consistently throw out baserunners (1.98 pop time). At the plate, Nathan shows great consistency hitting the ball up the middle. With a good balanced setup, a soft stride, and a direct/level route to the ball, consistently making solid contact, he projects to be a tough out at the plate for years to come. Nathan is a unique prospect, with all the skills to be a true game manager behind the plate and a hard out in the lineup time after time.

02/21/2016 - College PREP - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Nathan is an athletic, strong catcher who will graduate in 2017 with a tremendous future on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and utilizes his lower half well with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he displays power to all gaps. Behind the plate, he utilizes his feet well in working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show in the 1.98 with accuracy and on line carry to his throws. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Nathan has a big upside on the field with the makings of a special type player at the next level and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
