12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Nathan is a class of 2024 RHP/OF who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament. In the OF, he creates good fielding angles and covers ground in all directions. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a long arm stroke, and arm velocity up to 77mph. On the mound, he has long levers and a projectible frame. He gets a good rear hip coil, with a clean leg lift, and rides his back leg down the slope of the mound. Has a good glove tuck and is around the zone with his pitches. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 74-75mph with good movement in zone and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with big breaking action. In 3 innings of work, Nathan punched out 2 batters and allowed 2 hits. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance with good hand separation. Showed a fast barrel and ability to keep it in the zone for a long time. He hit line drives consistently into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. In live game action, he reached base 2 times with a single and a base on ball. As Nathan continues to grow and develop, we see him continuing to make big strides on the baseball field.

08/13/2021 - All-In Membership - Billings, MT Nathan is a tall RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Nathan operates with a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Curveball sits at 55mph with 12-6 break. Slider sits from 63-66mph with good movement. Changeup sits from 64-65mph with arm side run and sinking action. In the field, Nathan shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes on-line throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He shows smooth rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to strong line drives. Overall, Nathan is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
