08/06/2023 - National Showcase - Plano (DFW), TX Nathan is a C/2B who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame lean build with strength present. At C, he showed an easy sit with quick/active feet and good body control. Works thumb under baseball keeping balls in the strike zone. A clean transfer, with a short arm stroke, and a high 3/4 release point. Made on-line throws to second base, with a quick release, and arm velocity up to 83mph and a best pop time of 2.10 seconds. Shows fast twitch actions behind the plate and is a vocal leader on the field. At 2B, he shows ability to cover ground in all directions and ability to pick out hops. A 1-hand field in the alley, with a quick exchange, and on-line throws to first base. Showed ability to throw from multiple arm slots. A right-handed hitter, he starts with an athletic and even stance. A quick barrel, with weight between his knees, and gets extended out front. A good bat angle at contact allows him to spray balls to all fields. With another year of growth and development, we foresee Nathan making huge strides on the baseball field.

06/16/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (HS) Nathan is a coachable 2024 C/SS prospect out of Roanoke, TX who worked hard on his skills during the Omaha National World Series. Behind the dish, Nathan sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through the 2B bag. He is on time moving to block and tucks his chin well. Creating a better spine angle when blocking can help Nathan keep more dirt balls in front of him. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a soft stride. He gets his hands activated on time in a small load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a smooth swing and drives the ball from gap to gap. Nathan can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, Nathan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/15/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Nathan is a class of 2024 C/2B prospect. Behind the plate, he shows good footwork and the ability to gain ground on his throws. Stays balanced very well. Quick transfers and a short arm action helped get pop times down to 2.03. Showed soft hands when receiving. Does a good job getting to knees quickly when blocking. In the field, he shows quick feet. Does a good job working around the baseball. Shows a very good 1st step. Creates momentum to throw. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance. Shows clean and fundamental hitting mechanics. Shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Nathan is a young prospect with a bright future that we hope to see again.

01/30/2022 - All-In Membership - Plano (DFW), TX Nathan is a C/SS prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Behind the dish, has an easy sit, with flexible hips, and has quiet actions. Works around the baseball and gains ground towards second base with good direction. He works thumb under the baseball, with good pocket awareness, and keeps balls in the strike zone. Creates good blocking angles and gets his chest over ball. Throws from a high 3/4 release point with good carry on his throws and an arm velocity up to 80mph and a best pop time of 2.17 seconds. In the infield, he showed good range to his backhand side, with fluid/active footwork, and tracks the ball to glove. He fields from a low/square fielding position, with a good glove presentation, and a quick transfer. Made accurate and on-line throws from multiple arm slots with good momentum towards his target. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and tall stance. Has a simple and easy swing. Starts with a small hand load and has smooth timing to contact point. A short/direct barrel path enables him to hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Nathan making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
