12/03/2017 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Nathan showed as a SS and on the mound for the first time at the event. He continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, power potential is now well above average through a balanced / squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At SS, he continues to shine, displaying quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and attacks but will benefit by playing through with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action but throws too hard resembling fastball velocity. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Nathan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Nathan continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Pop times showed in the 2.16 range with accuracy and carry on his throws. He sticks balls well in the receiving, displaying a soft glove action. He utilizes his body through the blocking process and is a wall behind the dish. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped (81 mph exit velocity) through the zone and he stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive path. Power will increase as he uses his lower half more efficiently through the swing. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/22/2017 - College PREP - Jackson, MS Nathan is an athletic C/SS who has a promising future behind the plate. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show in the 2.01 range with accuracy and on line carry to his throws. He displays an athletic setup with soft hands that stick balls in the zone, displaying a soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down quicker and cover all holes to improve grade. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Backhand is solid with range increasing as he improves foot quickness. He shows off his athletic abilities on his turns / feeds of the double play. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. With 3 years to further develop, Nathan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
