06/24/2022 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Trenton, NJ This 2023 grad continues to improve every time he gets in front of us. His athletic measurements are impressive with 87mph arm strength, 90mph exit velocity while hitting and a 9'5" broad jump. With his arm-strength/foot speed combo, he is shaping up to be a Swiss army knife on the field. Nate has a bright future as he heads into his senior year in the fall.

08/11/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Trenton, NJ Nathaniel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefitting by presenting more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

03/10/2019 - National Tryout - Manalapan, NJ Nathaniel worked out both behind the plate and at 2nd base during his last workout with The Factory. Catching skills improved to 38's and pop times lowered to 2.75 seconds. Behind the plate, Nathaniel showed active feet, a low/square set-up, and he centers the ball well. He blocks and receives well, he is quick to his feet, and he throws with consistency and direction to 2nd base. At 2B, Nathaniel has active feet, agile movements, and presentable hands. He fields athletically, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from multiple arm slots to his target. Offensively, Nathaniel is equally as good from both sides of the plate. From the right, he swings in good rhythm, stands in well balanced, and makes hard/square contact. From the left side, Nathaniel has a square set-up, he loads well, and he swings on plane; making consistent contact.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting, Pitching & Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Nathaniel is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. Behind the plate, Nathaniel sits in a low primary stance and receives the ball out in front of his body. He replaces his feet well and throws with a short arm action. He works to block balls in the dirt and tucks his chin well. Moving to block quicker can help Nathaniel improve defensively. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension through the ball, leading to solid, loud contact. Nathaniel can improve as a hitter by continuing to add strength. With four more years to develop, Nathaniel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Nathaniel is an athletic and talented 2023 switch hitting Catching prospect that worked hard all weekend. Behind the dish, Nathaniel starts in a balanced primary and has an athletic secondary stance. He works under the ball and sees it into his glove when receiving. He needs to continue to lead with his glove and control balls in the dirt when blocking. He has a clean exchange in front of his body but needs to continue to create momentum with his lower half when throwing to the bases. From both sides of the plate, Nathaniel starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He creates backside rotation with his lower half and drives the ball gap to gap. On the right side of the plate he needs to continue to shorten his swing and attack the inside part of the ball. From the left side he needs to continue to keep his head down at contact and keep the barrel on plane with the ball. Nathaniel will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
