Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/23/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Nathaniel is a 2024 graduate who is a 3B/RHP out of Mertztown, PA. Defensively, Nathaniel has athletic actions, active feet, and a soft glove. He has good range, a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and a loose arm action across the diamond. Defensive numbers can continue to get better if Nathaniel can add range and follow throws more across the diamond. Offensively, Nathaniel stands in the box with a tall stance and with good balance. He has fast bat speed, he hits line drives, and he taps into his lower 1/2. If Nathaniel can hit to all fields more, and keeps his head still, solid numbers will further spike. On the mound, Nathaniel has good balance over the rubber and a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, has a controlled landing toward home plate, and he competes in the zone. If Nathaniel can work on glove side lead and get more extension on his pitches, mound effectiveness will improve.

10/06/2021 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Nathaniel was a coachable hard working team player during the AZ Fall Classic. Defensively at 3B, he displayed smooth footwork with good flexibility getting in a low fielding position with his glove out front consistently. He moved through the ball well but could benefit on his throws from not patting his glove which will make him more efficient in the throwing process. Offensively, he uses a wide set up with a short stride to make hard consistent contact when he thinks "head high line drives". On the bump, he was a confident pitcher who showed decent mechanics which allowed him to throw a lot of strikes. His FB topped out at 73 mph which is his best velocity to date. With continual development, this 2024 prospect out of Mertztown, PA shows a promising future ahead of him.

01/17/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Nathaniel is an athletic/talented 2-way player (3B/RHP) who can make things happen in a variety of ways. On the mound, this RHP works tall and has smooth mechanics, repeating his delivery well. FB tops out at 70 mph with slight arm-side run. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape while he works to keep his CH down in the zone - 56-57 mph. At 3B, he has active prep and works fluidly from right to left in his approach to the GB. Hands are soft as he funnels to a clean transfer. He makes the backhand play down the line with ease and fires accurate throws across the diamond. With the bat, this righty displays a balanced setup with smooth rhythm to load. He fires the barrel at pitches he likes, connects and drives the ball with pop (exit velocity = 84 mph). He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. Only a 2024 grad - Nathaniel has a ton of talent with upside and a bright future ahead in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
