01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nathaniel is a lanky and athletic 2020 OF prospect. In the OF, Nathaniel is on time with his prep step, he presents his hands to the ball, and he makes accurate throws. He fields the ball in an athletic position and he makes the routine play. At the plate, Nathaniel starts in a crouched stance, he has good rhythm in his load, and he gets his front foot down on time. He has a simple approach and he looks to drive the ball through the middle part of the field. Nathaniel is highly motivated and we hope to see his progress in the future.

03/10/2019 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Nathaniel is a 1B/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 1B, Nathaniel shows active footwork and fields in an athletic position. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. In the OF, Nathaniel shows efficient footwork and fields with a firm glove. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and great power to his pull side. Overall, Nathaniel is a talented prospect who should find success throughout his junior season.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Nathaniel shined once again at the event in Pirate City. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

10/13/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Nathaniel is a lanky prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments during the Mid-Atlantic Hitting Camp. At the plate, Nathaniel starts in an athletic stance, has a loose grip, and loads his hands back into the launch position. He gets his front foot down on time, stays balanced through contact, and drives the ball to all fields. Nathaniel needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and get his top hand extended through contact. Nathaniel is very coachable and eager to learn. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/24/2018 - College PREP - Columbia, MD Nathaniel is an athletic C/1B prospect who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, Nathaniel shows fluid footwork and is very agile when blocking balls in the dirt. He sits in an athletic stance and receives the ball with soft hands. He shows a quick, clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws to 2B, keeping them consistently on-line to the bag. Nathaniel can improve as a C by presenting a lower target to the pitcher. At 1B, Nathaniel shows active footwork and flashes good lateral range. He gets into a low position and fields the ball with soft hands. He has a clean exchange with a quick release on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. Nathaniel can improve as a 1B by consistently getting a four-seam grip on the baseball to prevent arm side run on his throws. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits from a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to line drives into the gaps. Nathaniel can improve as a hitter by gaining more separation in his load. Overall, Nathaniel is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
