07/27/2023 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Nathaniel is a tall and athletic OF in the 2024 class. Defensively, he plays on the balls of his feet and shows smooth footwork. Plays with agility and squares his body to the baseball. Fields out in front and has a secure exchange. Uses momentum on his throws with a loose 3 qtr release. His throws have carry and accuracy. At the plate, he is an aggressive hitter who can stay inside the baseball. Uses a controlled stride and his rhythm is fluid. Shows bat speed at 84 exit velo and gap-to-gap production. Overall, Nathaniel is a steady play and with further arm strength can become a plus defender and future prospect.

07/13/2023 - National Showcase - Tacoma, WA Nathaniel is an OF who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame athletic build with strength present. In the OF shows active feet and ability to cover ground. Fields ball out front from a square fielding position. Good reads off the bat enable him to flip his hips and works through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with a long arm action, and throws were accurate/on-line into the infield. Shows good carry on his balls with an arm velocity up to 79mph. A right-handed hitter he hits from a crouched and square stance. Natural strength in swing as ball jumps off his barrel. He hits into a firm front side and is balanced at contact point. A direct barrel path enables him to square up baseballs to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph during BP. With another year of development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
