02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (MS - East) Nathaniel is a talented RHP/OF that really impressed at the BF Opening Day Classic with his performance on the mound and in the field. On the mound, Nathaniel competes with a 3-pitch mix. The FB was up to 77 mph, the CB was 11-5 with good action and command, and the CH was deceptive with FB arm speed and great depth. He pitches on the mound with great confidence and simple mechanics allowing him to gather and separate with a loose arm action. His direction down the mound is consistent that really allows him to accelerate and finish to the target with intent. In the OF, Nathaniel showed athletic and quick footwork as he fields the ball. He presents a confident glove and makes quick and clean exchanges to deliver the ball to the infield with strong carry. Hitting, his stance is athletic with loose hands and good rhythm. He gets his foot down on time rotating hard getting on plane with a smooth swing that allows him to drive the ball gap to gap. Nathaniel shows great upside and projectability that will continue to develop in a 6'2 frame.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Nathaniel is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Nathaniel shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistent with carry across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, producing solid line drives and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Nathaniel gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Nathaniel shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 58mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Nathaniel is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Nathaniel is a coachable RHP/SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Pro Select Training at Pirate City. On the mound, Nathaniel gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and accelerates through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Nathaniel shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 53-55mph with 11-5 break. Striding inline towards the plate can help Nathaniel improve as a pitcher. In the field, Nathaniel shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with sure hands. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. Nathaniel can improve defensively by smoothening out his release. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Nathaniel improve as a hitter. With six more years to develop, Nathaniel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

04/28/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Phoenix, AZ Nathaniel raised velocity (63 MPH) and lowered 60 time (8.65 seconds) during his last workout with The Factory. He worked out at both SS and RHP. Defensively, Nathaniel has efficient footwork to the ball, he fields low, in a square position, and keeps the ball in front of his body. He has some glove extension, a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. On the mound, Nathaniel has a solid frame, good balance, and long limbs. He competes in the zone with his pitches, has good direction toward home, and finishes toward his target. Offensively, Nathaniel has a tall/square stance, good balance, and a still head. He has a direct barrel, a level swing, and he gets his lower body through. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Nathaniel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 58 mph. Fastball showed a range of 56-58 mph with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

04/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Phoenix, AZ Nathaniel is a thin, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays SS. On the mound, Nathaniel has a repeatable delivery, he is around the plate with all of his pitches, and lands in a good direction toward home plate. At SS, Nathaniel moves well to the ball, he looks it in, and fields in a square position. He uses 2 hands, and throws with a short arm action with accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Nathaniel has a square set-up, an aggressive swing, and good hip rotation. He hits from a good base, and gets his lower body through. Nathaniel can continue to improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
