12/17/2023 - National Showcase - Chandler (Phoenix), AZ Nathaniel continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He shows active footwork as he attacks ball, working to square ball up. Glove action is soft and sure as he presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting abilities are now excellent with pro level power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for barrel with ball exploding off bat when centered. Lower half works well with an aggressive hip turn.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Nathaniel is a class of 2025 SS/RHP. He shows off a very tall (6’2”) and physical frame. At the plate, he impressed throughout the weekend. Highlight was driving a double deep into the LCF gap. Starts in an athletic position before getting into a good load. Uses his lower ½ to create very impressive bat speed. Shows an advanced line drive approach. In the field, he does a very good job reading the baseball off the bat. Does a good job working from beneath the baseball. Plays fast downhill. On the mound, he showed very good mechanics and clean arm action. In game action he threw 3 innings surrendering 0 runs while striking out 4 hitters. Worked ahead with his fastball that topped at 76mph. Nathaniel is a very talented and physical young prospect that we hope to see again in the future.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (MS - East) Nathaniel is a talented RHP/OF that really impressed at the BF Opening Day Classic with his performance on the mound and in the field. On the mound, Nathaniel competes with a 3-pitch mix. The FB was up to 77 mph, the CB was 11-5 with good action and command, and the CH was deceptive with FB arm speed and great depth. He pitches on the mound with great confidence and simple mechanics allowing him to gather and separate with a loose arm action. His direction down the mound is consistent that really allows him to accelerate and finish to the target with intent. In the OF, Nathaniel showed athletic and quick footwork as he fields the ball. He presents a confident glove and makes quick and clean exchanges to deliver the ball to the infield with strong carry. Hitting, his stance is athletic with loose hands and good rhythm. He gets his foot down on time rotating hard getting on plane with a smooth swing that allows him to drive the ball gap to gap. Nathaniel shows great upside and projectability that will continue to develop in a 6'2 frame.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Nathaniel is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Nathaniel shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistent with carry across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, producing solid line drives and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Nathaniel gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Nathaniel shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 58mph with 10-4 break. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
