07/07/2019 - Baseball Factory Cleveland All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Neko is a coachable C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Cleveland All Star Experience. Behind the plate, Neko sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to the 2B bag. He moves on time to block and tucks his chin well. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Neko improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated on time and takes a level swing, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. Neko can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Neko gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Neko shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 61mph. Breaking ball sits from 51-53mph. Cutter sits from 50-51mph. Knuckle ball sits from 51-52mph. Taking a simpler starter step can help Neko improve as a pitcher. With five more years to develop, Neko has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

02/18/2019 - National Tryout - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Neko lowered pop times and improved defensive skills behind the plate during his last workout with The Factory. Pop times lowered to 2.5 seconds and receiving and blocking spiked to 32 and 35. Neko has quiet actions, a soft chest, and he sticks the ball well. He centers well, gains ground, and has a clean exchange with solid direction to 2nd base. At the plate, Neko has a tall set-up, he strides well, and stands in with solid balance. He has fast bat speed, makes hard contact, and he uses some lower body. Power grade also improved to 40 at the workout.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Neko is a young and talented 2024 2-way prospect that out worked many of his peers throughout the week. Behind the dish, Neko has an athletic secondary and balanced primary stance. He works behind the ball when receiving and controls balls in the dirt well with his chest. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to build arm strength and improve his mobility behind the plate. At the plate, Neko starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and keeps his head down at contact. He needs to continue to create backside drive with the lower and attack the inside part of the ball. On the bump, Neko has good mound presence, gathers over the rubber, and separates on time. He was fearless on the mound threw 13 out of 20 pitches for strikes. Neko is eager to learn, asks questions, and has a high baseball IQ. He has a bright future and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/23/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Neko is a young, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Neko has presentable hands, he sticks the ball well, and his footwork is efficient. He has quiet actions, a soft chest blocking, and he throws with a short arm action to 2nd base. On the mound, Neko has a balanced delivery, a quick arm action, and he works in good tempo. He has a repeatable delivery, lands with good length toward home, and he throws strikes. Offensively, Neko has a square set-up, he loads well, and has good feel for the barrel of the bat. He has fast bat speed, makes consistent contact, and hits with strength to the pull side. Neko can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
