Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Nicholas continues to show improvements and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities with hitting / power potential improving from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 65 mph. Fastball shows a range of 63-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/13/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Jackson, MS Nick is a young, thin, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Nick has presentable hands, he covers ground well, and fields in a square position. He makes plays, has a clean exchange, and throws with consistency from a long arm action across the diamond. On the mound, Nick stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on time, and gets good extension on his pitches. He has repeatable delivery, a controlled landing toward home, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Nick is a switch hitter and is currently better from the right side. He has an athletic set-up, a short stride, and a good bat angle. He makes solid contact and can spray to all fields. From the left side, Nick has a solid set-up, a direct barrel, and he swings a level stick. Overall skills can improve if Nick can work on the following.

Infield
1. Play more through
2. Loosen actions
3. Backhand
Pitching

3. Off-speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
