08/07/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Wilmington, DE Nicholas is an outstanding two-way prospect in the 2024 class. He recently impressed scouts with his defense, mound presence and ability to drive the baseball. In the field, his 6-foot 6 inch /235 frame is a tremendous target for his defenders. His feet work well around the bag and has soft hands. Can range well (7.57 runner) and arm action is solid on feeds and spins. On the mound, he is an intimidating presence and gets down the hill with ease. Has good life on his FB (81-2) and commanded the zone. Throws both a CB & SL for strikes (CB sat 65, SL sat 71). Has a splotch/change with natural loose actions. From the left side of the plate, he has a solid bat angle to get through the baseball for hard contact. Can hit power line drives from pole to pole. Has bat speed (91 exit velo) and there is more power in the tanks. Scouts feel he will make and impact at the next level.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Nicholas is a tall, solid 1B/LHP who has a tremendous future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average power potential through a squared / athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity is one of the best times we have documented for the 2024 grad class) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he continues to shine. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break and maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 5 years to further develop through 8th grade / high school, Nicholas has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches when the time is right.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
