09/25/2024 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic (2025) Nicholas is a senior corner infielder from Lafayette, California, who showcased his impressive skill set at the Arizona Senior Fall Classic. With a tall frame and athletic build, he exhibits good body language and is actively engaged on the field. His smooth footwork and quick first-step reads allow him to close the distance on batted balls, while his sure hands and strong arm, reaching up to 84 mph, enhance his defensive capabilities. At the plate, his athleticism truly stands out, featuring activated hands and an explosive hip turn that leads to an on-plane swing, producing line drives to all fields with a remarkable exit velocity of up to 96 mph. During the tournament, he reached base with a single, two walks, a sacrifice fly, and stole two bases. Coaches and scouts alike agree that he possesses one of the best natural swings at the event, indicating a bright future ahead.

10/18/2023 - Arizona Easton Fall Classic Nicholas is a tall and lean 6 ft/170 corner INF/OF in the 2025 class. Scouts were impressed with his versatility and how hard he works at each position. IN BP, he would spend time taking reads in the OF, 3B and 1B. Scouts feel he should continue to put in the work and feel that he may end up at 1B. At 1st he shows plus range around the bag and he plays on the balls of his feet. He gains a low and athletic fielding position and shows soft hands. Arm plays at 78 velo and working to maintain a consistent release point will help improve accuracy. At the plate, he shows a controlled swing with a short swing. Engages his lower half well and shows the ability to use the whole field. Overall, scouts feel Nicholas has time to continue to work on his game and feel that he can become a fine prospect in the 2025 class.

10/01/2023 - National Showcase - Sonoma, CA Nicholas continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities through open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness.

06/11/2023 - National Showcase - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Nicholas is a solid 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 2 years to further develop, Nicholas has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
