Official Scouting Report

08/09/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - San Bernardino, CA Nicholas is an OF/2B prospect who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength to the build and room to develop. Ran a 6.81 60-yard dash. In the OF, shows quick/fluid feet and good agility in the OF with ability to cover ground in all directions. Good 1st step reads enable to create good angles. Works behind and through the ball with a 1-hand high catch. Aggressive routes to balls and fields from an athletic/low fielding position. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot coming forward, with a short arm action, and an arm velocity of 72mph into infield. At 2B, he shows same quick/fluid feet and athletic actions. Works around the baseball and fields from an athletic/square fielding position and fields out front. Attacks the baseball, with good angles, and accurate/on-line throws. At the plate, he begins with an athletic and open stance. Good timing to swing, with quick hands and a late bat whip, and has a middle of the field approach. Flat/direct barrel path as he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 80mph during his round of BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Nicholas is a coachable 2022 OF/2B prospect out of Rancho Cucamonga, CA who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Nicholas shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Long tossing can help Nicholas build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a compact swing and sprays line drives to all fields. Nicholas can create more consistent contact by taking a square stride toward the pitcher. Overall, Nicholas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field. We look forward to seeing what his future holds.

05/16/2021 - All-In Membership - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Nicholas is a 2B/OF who will graduate in 2022. Athletic build with strength present. Ran a 6.75 60-yard dash. Primary OF who has quick/fluid feet and ability to cover ground. His athleticism shows as he makes it look easy. Works around the ball, with good initial burst, enables him to work behind and through the ball. Adjusts well to balls with good glove angles. Quick transfer, with a quick release, and accurate throws into infield at 74mph. Secondary 2B, quick feet enable him to center balls and create good fielding angles working right to left. Keeps eyes behind the ball and fields the ball out front with a good glove angle. Clean exchange and ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Shows some accuracy on throws across the diamond with an arm velocity of 74mph. A right-handed hitter begins with an upright and even stance. Simple swing, as he glides into contact, keeping his hands inside the ball. Middle of the field approach with a bat exit velocity of 79mph during BP. As he continues to mature and develop, we see him having opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
