11/12/2017 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Nicholas is an average sized, 2-way player who catches and plays 1B. Behind the plate, Nicholas catches in a low/square position, he tries to keep it in front when blocking, and recovers well. He shows a good idea, works hard, and has some accuracy and pop times as long as 2.37 to 2nd base. If Nicholas can raise his arm slot, loosen body actions, and improve blocking, abilities behind the plate will get better. At 1st base, Nicholas moves well to the ball, his hands and feet are playable, and he makes routine plays consistently. He has a clean exchange, and an accurate arm to his target. Defensive skills can improve if Nicholas can widen his base, soften his glove, and play more through. Offensively, Nicholas has a square set-up, good balance, and a short/direct barrel to the ball. He has a line drive approach and will need to use more lower ½, work on barrel accuracy, and improve rhythm/timing for hitting to get better.
