Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

07/31/2016 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Nicholas is a RHP/OF with great foot speed (6.98 60 time). On the mound, Nicholas shows a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 73-74mph with some arm side tail. Breaking ball ranges from 55-58mph with an 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 68-71mph with good sinking action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Nicholas can improve as a pitcher by engaging his front side more in his delivery. In the OF, Nicholas shows decent body control and fields well with sure hands. He plays through the ball well and has a clean exchange to throw which keeps his throws on line to his target. Nicholas can improve defensively by throwing more downhill and by incorporating a long toss program to build up his arm strength. At the plate, Nicholas has a middle approach and shows decent balance in the box. He takes a direct route to the ball and produces decent bat speed. Nicholas can improve as a hitter by using his lower half more throughout his swing. Overall, Nicholas is a solid prospect who has the potential to develop into a contributor at the next level.

07/16/2015 - College PREP - Auburn Hills, MI Nick is a OF/RHP that showed consistent actions on the field. Defensively, he made plays by prepping his feet, getting his body into a decent fielding position, under control, with hands in front. He was sure with the glove and took good routes/angles to secure the ball. Offensively, he had a quiet head, and was aggressive to attack balls in the zone. He had rhythm in his swing and stayed inside at contact. On the mound, he threw a FB from 76-78, spun an 11/5 CB from 58-60, and flashed a sinking CH from 66-69. He kept his eyes on the target to delivery and had a good repeatable pace with rhythm. He was strong with his front side to stay in-line to the dish and got extended out in front. In all - Nick is an interesting player that has a frame to add strength to for high level play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
