01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nicholas continues to show solid progress in his baseball abilities. At SS, feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft/clean and he presents well out front. Range is a plus (6.85 60 time) as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 4.

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Nicholas continues to show as prospect on the diamond. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event.In the infield, he displays quick/athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. Athletic abilities are present through his feeds/turn of the double play. In the OF, he displays smooth/clean actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry (89 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Nicholas has a bright future ahead of himself and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nicholas is an athletic 3B prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the field, Nicholas gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with sure hands. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a soft stride. He is controlled getting into a simple load and takes a short swing path. His hips and hands work well together, leading to solid contact. Overall, Nicholas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/27/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Pittsburgh, PA Nicholas is an athletic CIF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Nicholas shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall, Nicholas is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Washington, PA Nicholas is a tall, athletic two-way prospect who shines at third base. His athleticism makes him an impact type prospect and his speed makes him a stolen base and extra base hit threat. At the plate, his power, speed combo makes him a very tough out as he can deliver the barrel and run for hits and also drive the ball into the gaps. He shows fast bat speed on a direct path to make consistent, hard contact to all fields. At third, he plays through with soft, clean hands and gets rid of the ball quickly with a strong arm. His hands are quick to funnel and exchange to start the DP and make throws from all angles. On the bump, he works in the upper 70's with his cutting fastball and shows an 11-5 curve and a sinking changeup. He has deception in his deliver and shows great feel for each pitch with the confidence to throw them at any time. More load in his lower half will increase velocity moving forward. Nicholas is a talented, exciting prospect with a bright future.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
