08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Nicholas is an athletic and talented 2023 RHP prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments throughout the week despite having an injury. At the plate, Nicholas is aggressive to the ball and keeps a direct bath path to the ball. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside rotation. On the bump, Nicholas has a clean arm action, keeps a strong front side, and works quick. He needs to continue to separate on time, find his balance point, and work north to south. His fastball has sink, his curveball has a gradual 10-4 break, and he sinks his changeup. Nicholas will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/06/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Nicholas showed nice all around skills and improvements at the plate during his time in the Cape. He is a great kid who loves baseball. Offensively, Nicholas has good strength, he swings aggressively, and has a good bat path through the ball. He has fast bat speed, makes consistent contact, and hits line drives. At 3B, Nicholas fields in a low position, he has good range, and a clean exchange with consistency to his target. On the mound, Nicholas keep his eyes on target, his arm is quick, and he rotates through to his target with nice arm strength.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Nicholas is an athletic RHP/3B that shows improvement from past events. In the 60, Nicholas jumped from a 10.71 to a 10.07 and shows improvement in his home-to-first by running a 6.31 after previously running a 6.72. Nicholas is a sure handed 3B that attacks the baseball by presenting his hands out front of his body, making clean exchanges into a short arm action (OT arm slot) and throwing the ball accurately and on a line to his targets. Raw velocity shows improvement from previous events, jumping from 62mph to 64mph. Nicholas can improve defensively by doing cone drills and ladders to help with range. At the plate, Nicholas attacks the ball with a square set up, a short stride and smooth rhythm. Balance is center as his lower half stays through throughout his swing. He shows a direct swing path to the ball and makes consistent contact through a spray type approach, while also displaying some power. Nicholas can improve offensively by being more selective and incorporating a more consistent load. On the mound, Nicholas throws a FB and CB for strikes. His mechanics are solid but can utilize more of his legs for added velocity and accuracy. Nicholas controls runners on base with a pick off move and shows a 1.1 to home plate. He shows some feel for pitching with fair poise and keeps his emotions composed. He is aggressive at times and tries to pitch ahead in counts. Nicholas is a FB type pitcher and is projected to be a power type pitcher in the future. He shows fantastic intangibles at the event by asking plenty of questions and being coachable as well as a good aptitude for the game. Nicholas is a hard worker, hustles everywhere, makes adjustments when he needs to and is a team player.

01/07/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Jacksonville, FL Nicholas is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Nicholas has simple mechanics, a clean arm action, and he stands well balanced over the rubber. He uses his lower body, lands with good direction, and works in good overall rhythm. At 1st base, Nicholas has aggressive actions to the ball, he keeps it in front of his body, and throws with a long arm action to his target. At the plate, Nicholas has a square set-up, a short stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He has good balance, a still head, and a direct barrel through the ball. Overall abilities can improve if Nicholas can work on the following.

Pitching
1. Lengthen back AA
2. Work downhill
3. Control
Defense
1. Fielding position
2. Quicken feet
3. Accuracy
Offense
1. Rotate hips
2. Bat speed
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
