06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Nicholas is a prospect on the diamond and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is outstanding as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Charlottesville, VA Nicolas is a solid, athletic OF who has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed is superior as indicated by his 60 time of 6.43. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally, covering ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Nicholas has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
