12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Nicholas continues to show as a prospect on the diamond and has improved his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 7. In the MIF, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is sure and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/15/2018 - Texas Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Nicholas is a coachable 2B prospect who worked hard during his time at the Texas Skills Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid gap to gap pop. Taking a square stride can help Nicholas improve as a hitter. Overall, Nicholas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

10/21/2018 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Nicholas is an athletic and talented 2019 2B prospect. At 2B, Nicholas is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He's aggressive on slow rollers, creates angles to the ball, and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Nicholas starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has quick hands to the ball. He creates backside rotation with his lower half, and stays balanced through contact. Nicholas will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/16/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Nicholas is a hardworking 2B prospect who loves to play the game. As a right-handed hitter, Nicholas has an open setup with a centered balance. He has a good load with a short, square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Nicholas has a short, direct swing path producing square contact. He is a line drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Nicholas plays with active footwork and makes the routine plays. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, athletic position. Nicholas has a clean exchange leading into a quick release. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Nicholas is a well-rounded prospect who is a leader on the diamond.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Nicholas continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Nicholas is a lean, athletic 2B prospect who has made impressive strides at the plate. He shows the ability to hit for average and power with good bat to ball skills and a strong frame to drive the ball. He has an all fields approach at the plate to stay back on the ball and hit it where it's pitched. He works on a level path and extends through contact to drive the ball from gap to gap. At second, he shows a good ready position with active feet to get a quick first step and move laterally. He fields low and square and shows a clean exchange and release to be a solid double play partner. Working on his backhand glove angle will make him a complete defender. Nicholas is an intriguing prospect we look forward to following as he continues to develop.

10/22/2017 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Nicholas is a lean, athletic 2B who will graduate in 2019. At 2B, he displays clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper angles but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Nicholas has abilities with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
