Baseball Factory Denver All-Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Nicholas is a C who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame, with broad shoulders, and some strength present and room to add more strength. Behind the dish, easy sit and presents a low target. Gains ground with good direction towards second base. Creates good blocking angles and displayed a soft chest as he deaden balls. Tucks his chin and covers the 5 hole. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity of 65mph and a best pop time of 2.61 seconds. A right-handed hitter, hits from an upright and open stance. Quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Made contact to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 65mph. Had a single and a HBP during live game action. With 3 more years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Nicholas showed improvements in several areas of his game during his time in Arizona. Behind the plate, Nicholas plays with energy, he has good body language, and he sits in well. He tracks to his glove, tries hard to keep the ball in front when blocking, and he throws with solid direction to 2nd base. Offensively, Nicholas stands in the box with a tall/open stance, he takes a short stride toward the pitcher, and rotates his core through the ball. He has a level bat pat and he can hit well to the opposite field. Nicholas is a coachable young player and he shows solid teamwork.

11/03/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Wilsonville (Portland), OR Nicholas is a young, catcher with a strong lower body. Defensively, Nicholas has active feet, a good set-up, and he catches athletically. He sticks the ball well, tries hard to block, and throws with pop times as low as 3.46 seconds to 2nd base. At the plate, Nicholas has a square stance, a short stride, and good balance. He has a level approach and is able to work the ball to all fields. Overall skills can further improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
