01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Nicholas showed a spike in radar velocity to 89 MPH, he lowered 60 time to 7.23 seconds, and lowered pop times to 1.88 seconds during the Pre-Season AA. Behind the plate, Nicholas sits in athletically, footwork is quick, and he blocks the baseball softly. He takes good angles, his exchange is quick, and he throws with strength and accuracy to 2nd base. At the plate, Nicholas has a square stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a level swing, a direct barrel, and he hits hard to the pull side.

08/15/2021 - All-In Membership - Manchester, CT Nicholas is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (87 mph velocity) with impressive pop times of 1.90. Offensively, he continues to shine with well above average hitting / power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (85 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. With 2 years to further develop, Nicholas has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
