03/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Montgomery, AL Nicholas continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show at 2B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.21 runner. At 2B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

08/30/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pensacola, FL Nicholas is an athletic 1B who will graduate in 2022. At the plate he shows an athletic, crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are with carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. With 2 years to further develop, Nicholas has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
