12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic
Nick continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. At 3B, feet are active as he squares balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. He shows off his athletic abilities as he attacks balls while playing through and presents hands out front. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. Throws display accuracy but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the ball quicker. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path through an aggressive approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 67 mph. Fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, develops better off speed stuff, and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays with a lot of energy and is very coachable, working hard to be the best player he can be.
07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown
Nick showed well at the plate and had quick feet defensively during Dodgertown. Offensively, Nick has a square set-up, good balance, and he can spray the ball to all fields. He swings aggressively, uses his lower body, and he finishes his swing. At 3B, Nick has ready hands, he fields out in front of his body, and he moves with quick feet to the ball. On the mound, Nick competes in the zone with his FB, and slings it in the zone from a low 3/4 arm slot. Nick is very competitive and aggressive while on the diamond. He's very coachable as well.
01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Pirate City
Nick is a R/R 2-way player as a 3B/RHP. At the plate, this righty can swing it. He is aggressive and is always looking to take a hack. He consistently barrels up the ball and drives it to all parts of the field. Defensively at 3B, he works on the balls of his feet and into a square fielding position. He gathers well and has a clean exchange. Working to get into a lower fielding position (from the ground-up) will improve his abilities at 3B. On the bump, Nick delivers his FB from a low 3/4 arm slot which can be deceiving to hitters. FB shows cut and some sink. More lower 1/2 drive will help to raise velocity. Nick is a coachable/versatile player who was willing to do whatever he was asked. His offensive skill-set and coachable mentality will lead to success over the next couple of years.
