09/13/2009 - College PREP - Adrian (Detroit), MI Nick is a catcher with a small, thin frame that shows some projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. Foot speed is solid average and he utilizes his quick feet well in working in line to his target through the throwing process as he gains ground. Transfer / exchange are solid with hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.18-2.21 through a quick arm action. Arm strength is solid average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, lowering pop times. Receiving skills are average through a stiff, narrow setup. He stabs at the baseball with skills improving as more flexibility is gained and he lets the ball travel. Blocking skills are solid average as he gets his body down and around the baseball, covering all holes. At the plate, Crivella has solid average abilities with slightly above average power through a balanced setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Swing path gets long due to arm bar. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. Nick has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
