10/18/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Windsor (Madison), WI Nick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

04/07/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Bowie, MD Nick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose / clean to the plate. He works through a quick tempo and shows a 3 pitch mix. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Building more arm strength through a long toss program will aid in improving stock on the mound.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Nick is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that plays the game hard. At SS, Nick is on time with his prep step, aggressive to the ball, and plays through his backhand. He needs to continue to present a low/early glove, and funnel the ball into his body. Long tossing and working on game like throws in his throwing program will increase arm strength and the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Nick starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back, and has a middle approach. He consistently finds the barrel and hits the ball to all fields. He needs to continue to separate on time, keep a quiet head, and attack the inside part of the ball. Creating backside rotation with his lower half will allow him to drive the ball gap to gap. On the bump, Nick separates on time, stays directional toward the plate, and is aggressive with his fastball. He has good tempo and is confident on the mound. He needs to continue to ride his back leg toward the plate and extend thru his release point. Developing a changeup will allow him to work off the fastball more consistently. Nick continues to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/13/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Nick is a talented prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments during the Mid-Atlantic Hitting Camp. At the plate, Nick starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He attacks the inside part of the ball, and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to create backside rotation with his lower half, stay back on the ball, and get extension through contact. Nick will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/10/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Nick is a hardworking SS/OF prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Nick has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance. He has a short, square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Nick has a direct, on-plane swing path and keeps his barrel level through the zone. He is a line drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Nick plays with a passive approach and works to make the routine plays. He fields the ball in a high position with deep hands. Nick has a long exchange leading into a restricted arm action. He has the ability to adjust his arm slot depending on the play. He gets rid of it quickly and can add arm strength. Overall, Nick is a balanced prospect who has potential to improve his game with development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
