04/29/2018 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Nick continues to improve his baseball abilities on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.46 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front but will benefit by getting down sooner.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Nick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.81. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner to improve grade. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/23/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Nick is a solid catcher who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, he shows a low/athletic setup with a quiet body. He has a clean exchange and fires accurate throws down to 2B. With the stick, this RHH uses a middle of the field approach. He explodes his lower 1/2 creating hard contact and sprays pitches from gap to gap. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Present low target
2. Quicker release
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Load in hands
2. Improve bat speed
3. Develop more rhythm

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
