Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

11/02/2023 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition Nick continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth actions. He shows active footwork as he attacks ball, working to square ball up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 53-57 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/08/2023 - National Showcase - Springdale, AR Nick is a 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2028. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At 2B, he works to center the baseball and shows ability to make routine plays. Made accurate throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 59mph. Shows good footwork on his DP feeds and pivots. On the mound, he gets to a good balance position and lands square to his target. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 52-55mph, a breaking ball with 12/6 shape with some tilt, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. At the plate, he hits from a tall and square stance. A simple setup to start and takes an aggressive swing. Keeps bat flat in the zone for a long time and made consistent contact. A short barrel path allows him to hit balls consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 58mph. With 5 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Nick making huge strides on the baseball field.

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Nick Evener is a 2028 RHP and 3B prospect. He shows off a squared setup in the box with relaxed hands. His lower half works through the baseball and his swing is level and on-plane, resulting in consistent line-drive contact. Had some quality at-bats in gameplay. At 3B, he does well pre-pitch to get himself in a good athletic position on the balls of his feet. Arm strength should continue to develop as he gets bigger and more athletic. On the mound he has a high 3/4 delivery and shows a high level of compete. He gets good on-time separation and has a nice controlled landing with a good stride length. Threw strikes and projects as a command pitcher. Looking forward to seeing his arm get stronger as he gets bigger.

10/09/2022 - All-In Membership - Springdale, AR Nick is a young, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Nick has quick footwork, soft hands, and he moves well to the glove side. He has good pre-pitch actions, a good glove angle, and his exchange is clean with some accuracy across the diamond. If Nick can field further out in front, attack more aggressively, and quicken his release, defense will get better. On the mound, Nick has a balanced delivery, a clean arm circle, and a controlled landing toward home plate. He works well to his balance point, keeps his eyes on target, and competes in the zone. More separation and lower body can help mound effectiveness improve. At the plate, Nick stands in tall, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has good strike zone awareness, creates backspin, and puts the bat on the ball. Added strength and lower 1/2 can help hitting spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
