06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West This athletic/versatile 2-way player continues to shine. In the MIF - he has quick footwork and flashes good lateral range. Glove is presented out in front as he funnels smoothly to a clean transfer/exchange. Throws are strong with zip across the diamond. Offensively, this righty has a balanced/athletic setup with rhythm to load. He fires the barrel on a short/direct path and centers the ball with pop - driving it to both gaps. Foot speed has improved as he now runs his 60 in 6.95. Nick is a solid all-around athlete who will make an impact when he steps onto the field.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hamilton has a rangy 6-foot 170 pound frame with loose actions. He generated bat speed from a complicated setup and move into the ball, but was able to whip the barrel through the zone for strong contact with a wood bat. He showed hand-eye coordination in his ability to deliver the barrel to contact even when he was a little out of sync with his body. His bat speed and natural feel for the barrel give him a chance to hit as he moves up. Defensively, his actions were loose and active, and he reacted well to the ball off the bat. His hands and ability to play the ball were solid, and his throws had some zip across the infield. Overall, has a number of interesting natural abilities and appears to be capable of handling the faster speed of the game at higher levels.

10/14/2015 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Nick is a next level 2-way player with athletic actions and a projectable frame. At the plate, he uses his strong hands and legs to get through the ball with authority. He flashes the ability to leave the yard multiple times in a bp round with his pull side pop and quick bat. At SS, he looks the part with a lean frame and excellent feel for the position. He fields the ball out front, works smoothly on the DP and throws with accuracy across the diamond. In all, Nick is a talented player with tools and passion to take him to the next level.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nick showed up at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament with a 6'/170 lbs frame and competed very well against strong competition. Offensively, his bat speed and loose rhythm got him to a strong hitting position frequently and he was selective, walking twice and driving in 2 RBI's with a single shot to LF. His aggressive hacks and overall approach at the plate will continue to translate as the competition becomes consistently stronger. In the infield, he worked his feet and controlled his body to make plays with the sure glove we have seen in the past. He had easy hands and rhythm to field, and threw with carry to his target. Overall - we look forward to tracking Nick this spring in his sophomore season.

10/01/2014 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Nick is a very sound, competitive player that stands out as a team leader. Defensively, he has good actions at short, reads hops well and secures the ball with soft/sure hands. He is confident with the glove and finishes plays with carry to his throws. Gaining more momentum with his lower half to help his arm strength will enable him to continue playing short as the game speeds up. Offensively, he has quiet rhythm and gets activated in a strong hitting position. He delivers the barrel with good accuracy and bat speed and drives the ball to the opposite field. All in all - Nick is a well above average player that has great baseball instincts and projects very well for next level play.

06/17/2014 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Nick showed at SS and in the OF at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most as he had an outstanding week / tournament. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to stay inside the ball utilizing all fields. Power potential is present as the baseball explodes of his bat when centered. He has a solid idea and is aggressive as he was 8 for 16 with 3 2B. Once on base, he is a smart base runner and will take the extra base. At SS, he moves well laterally, displaying range and attacks balls with his feet playing through well. Hands are soft /sure and he shows big play potential in the MIF. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles and works to get behind balls. Arm strength has improved with throws displaying life, carry, and accuracy. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, makes adjustments, and has a solid feel for the game. He is one to watch moving forward.

09/22/2013 - College PREP - Phoenix, AZ Hamilton continues to impress on the diamond. This smooth swinging righty flashes bat speed to and through the zone driving it to all fields with pop. He lets the ball travel into the zone and hits it where it's pitched. At SS, his quick footwork allows him to cover ground and make the tough backhand play in the hole. He has a quick exchange and fires the ball across the diamond. On the bump, Hamilton has a repeatable delivery and fills up the zone throwing strikes. FB now tops out at 76 and shows some run. Knuckleball is best off-speed pitch, showing sink and is a good out pitch. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to increase velocity on his FB. Nick is a very talented player who works hard on his game. He is a guy to keep an eye on over the next few years.

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City It had been over a year since we last saw Nick and not surprisingly he has improved a lot since then. His 60 yard dash is down to a 7.26 which is great for a player just entering his freshman year in high school. As an infielder Nick showed solid mechanics, sure/soft hands, good range, a quick release and very good arm strength. He has a very natural approach as an infielder and can play multiple positions. He can work on his throwing mechanics and his pre pitch actions. As a pitcher he displayed good tempo, while working downhill. He has a good curveball and throws strikes. He topped out at 76 mph which is impressive for a rising freshman. He needs to keep his arm speed consistent on his offspeed pitches and stay in-line to the target. At the plate Nick continues to excel showing quick hands, a short/on-plane swing path, and an ability to use the whole field and make consistent/hard contact. He also showed good patience during gameplay. He needs to eliminate the bat wrap on the load and overall have less movement in his swing. Nick has always been a very intelligent player with a good feel for the game and we expect that to continue as he progresses through high school.

06/22/2012 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Nick is an athletic 2017 graduate who plays SS/RHP/OF, and he continues to show improvements each time we see him. During this event he posted his best arm strength and 60 yard dash time, and showed us solid defensive improvements. He has well above average arm strength, soft/sure hands, active footwork, an athletic/low fielding position, he fields the ball out front, he has quick feeds/pivots and he displayed good agility. Nick tends to be a little early with his timing on his approach causing him to field the ball off the right foot instead of inside the left, so this is an area he can work on. On the mound he works quick, attacks the strike zone and his FB has late sink. Nick is a very athletic pitcher but he tends to rush through his balance point and he needs to keep his front side closed. At the plate he has a smooth load, lower half gets through, he has fluid rhythm, good bat speed and he consistently squares the ball up. He needs to keep his weight centered so he does not lunge at the ball. Nick is a very talented player with a big upside and his versatility to play multiple positions is a plus. If he continues to work hard and progress he will be a standout player in the future.

03/09/2012 - Yankees Spring Training Experience Nick is a 2017 graduate who displayed skills at RHP and SS at the Yankee Spring Training. He has well above average arm strength, hands are clean/sure, active footwork, athletic/out front fielding position, good agility and quick feeds/pivots. He needs to work on getting a good angle and working through the ball towards his target. On the mound Nick is well above average on athleticism, mound presence and pitchability. He can improve his separation by not allowing his hands to break too low. At the plate Nick showed great potential. He has an athletic set-up, centered balance, explosive lower half, great bat speed, consistent/hard contact with a gap approach to both fields and he has a fluid rhythm. Nick has all the ability to be a stand-out player in the future if he makes the proper adjustments and works at making them a consistent part of his game.

07/10/2011 - Select Training at the All-Star Game (Pre HS) Nick is a 2017 graduate who is an OF/C. He is very athletic in all aspects of the game. In the OF Nick shows a solid average arm that is quick, accurate, and consistent. He has sure hands, his feet are fluid/active and he gets behind the ball well. Behind the plate Nick has a clean, quick exchange and showed nice backspin on his throws. He showed an athletic, square setup and has soft/sure hands. His footwork is inline, quick and fluid. Blocking the ball, Nick is agile, he covers well, keeps his head down, gains ground and centers the ball. At the plate Nick has an athletic setup, with a smooth/hitch load. He showed good rhythm and is on plane. He needs to watch keeping his weight too far back and getting his elbow above hands on load. Also, he needs to be more aggressive at the plate. Overall Nick is a very good player with a great attitude. With continued hard work, Nick will have a bright future in baseball.

06/21/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Nick is a solid, athletic player that plays OF and catches. In the OF, Nick has soft / sure hands, active feet, and he gets behind fly balls well. He works around ground balls, plays through, and his exchange is clean. Nick has a long / loose arm action, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target. Behind the plate, Nick showed firm hands, quick / active feet, and he looks the ball in well. He sits in easy, works around the ball, and he catches in an athletic position. Nick has a short / quick arm action, and he throws with average strength to 2nd base. At the plate, Nick has a square / athletic set-up, relaxed hands, and a proper load. He keeps his hands back, he has fast bat speed, and he makes hard consistent contact. Nick turns his hips quick, his swing plane is level, and he swings in good rhythm. Overall abilities can improve if Nick can work on the following.

Defense
1. Play lower
2. Long toss
Catching
1. Blocking
2. Protect bare hand
3. Avoid standing straight up when throwing
Offense
1. Don't dive to ball
2. Transfer weight
3. More direct hands to ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
