03/24/2013 - College PREP - Union City, CA Nick is a lanky 1B/OF that will graduate in 2014. At 1B, he displays active feet and solid agility around the bag as he displays proper footwork and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / clean as he consistently shows the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to work on getting behind balls more and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Healey continues to shine through a squared / athletic setup and he tracks the ball well. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path and works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly. Nick has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
