12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Nick is a well-rounded shortstop prospect who shows impressive tools. In the field, Nick gets in an athletic ready position and moves with smooth, active footwork. He shows a quick first step covering good ground. He fields the ball in a low, athletic position. Nick receives the ball with a firm glove. He has a quick, clean exchange leading into a free arm action. Nick plays with momentum through the baseball. He has the ability to use multiple arm angles. His throws are accurate with good strength across the diamond. Offensively, Nick has an athletic setup with a firm front side. He has comfortable hands and a controlled stride. Nick gets good extension at contact and is developing bat speed. He has good strength behind his barrel and rotates effectively with his core. Nick shows the ability to go with the ball to the opposite field. Overall, Nick has a solid approach and all the tools to continue to improve his game.

08/05/2018 - College PREP - Dublin (Columbus), OH Nick is a talented 2020 middle infielder. In the INF, Nick presents his glove well, his feet are active, and he gets into a good fielding position. He has good range, a clean exchange, and he throws with momentum and direction to his target. Continuing to build more arm strength will help defensive numbers improve. Offensively, Nick has a square/athletic setup, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He has a good feel for the barrel, a level swing, and he gets his lower body through. Added bat speed and better timing will help hitting numbers spike. Overall, Nick is a talented prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
