06/07/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Nick is a tall C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Nick shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Getting on top of his throws more can help Nick improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Nick can improve as a hitter by working on his contact points. Overall, Nick is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/03/2019 - College PREP - Potomac, MD Nick continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 2.18 range with accuracy and on line carry (83 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side.

10/26/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Nick is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. Overall, Nick is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Nick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.06 with accuracy and zip (85 mph velocity) on his throws. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills are outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Nick as the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

06/07/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Nick is a C prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Nick works to receive and replaces his feet well to throw. He gains momentum well on his throws to 2B, leading to pop times as low as 2.25 seconds. He is quick to block and covers up well. Sitting in a more athletic stance can help Nick improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into his load and takes a level swing, leading to consistent contact. Nick can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With two more years to develop, Nick has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
